Garbage

Jersey City curbside trash collection is provided twice a week. 

• Monday & Thursday Night
• Trash is to be placed curbside no earlier than 5:00 PM and no later than 8:00 PM.
• Four bulk items are allowed per collection day.
  • Bulk items include furniture, mattresses, etc. (mattresses must be wrapped in plastic prior to placing curbside). 

Please call the Jersey City Department of Public Works (JCDPW) at (201) 547-4400 to schedule a bulk waste pick up. 

Recycling

Curbside recycling collection is provided once a week.

• Tuesday Night
• Recycling is to be placed curbside no earlier than 5:00 PM and no later than 8:00 PM.
• Mixed newspaper, magazines, junk mail, office paper, telephone books, cardboard boxes, corrugated boxes and laundry detergent boxes must be recycled (materials must be tied or placed in recycling containers).
• Commingled materials include glass bottles, aluminum cans, metal cans, water bottles, household cleaner containers, laundry detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, and other related plastic containers must be recycled (materials must be placed in recycling containers).
• Do not place recyclables in plastic bags. Recycle your bags at a local ShopRite or Target.
